In high school I worked weekend nights on drug crisis hotline. People who were having a bad drug experience, or were suicidal or just needed someone in the middle of the night to talk to called in. My job was to listen and be with them until sunrise and they lived to experience another day. As an undergraduate, I began working with children who were developmentally disabled. I became Executive Director of Forestview Community Homes, Inc. in Minnesota which provided residential programs to children and adults who were developmentally disabled. While attending Graduate School I was Vice President of Lutheran Social Services of Southern California directing the emergency services, hot meal programs, and senior services in Orange & San Diego Counties and created the counseling program throughout southern California. While in grad school, I completed my 3,000 hours of counseling internship and became a Certified Hypnotherapist and NLP Practitioner. I consider myself to be a life-long learner and I continue to grow in my own knowledge and experience. Today, I am active in the Medical Hypnosis profession, I teach Advanced Medical Hypnosis to health and wellness professionals and I am active in my home community. I have served on various boards, volunteered in organizations and I was the sports psychologist for the Bainbridge Boys Lacrosse team on Bainbridge Island, WA. I love it when young men stop me on the ferry or on the street to share with me how they have used the hypnosis skills that I taught them when they were playing Lacrosse. They tell me that hypnosis helped get them through college and land their first professional job. Others tell me how they use their hypnosis skills in relationship and parenthood. These are the stories that fill my heart and make it all worthwhile!
